Michael Cohen is a sports reporter with experience covering the NFL, NBA, college basketball, college football, professional soccer and more. He has written for The New York Times, Sports Illustrated and ESPN, among others, while hosting several podcasts and serving as a television analyst. He was also an executive producer of the documentary "A Deadly Football Hit" on TNT and HBO Max.
In his current role, Michael covers college football and college basketball for FOX Sports. He joined the network in October 2022. Previously, Michael worked as the University of Michigan football and men's basketball beat writer for the Detroit Free Press. He also spent four seasons covering the Green Bay Packers for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Athletic (2015-19), where his work included enterprise, features, analysis, game coverage and podcasts. Michael has previous experience as the sports enterprise reporter for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee (2014-15), focusing on profiles, investigations, projects and public records. He spent one year as a college football beat reporter for The Post-Standard in Syracuse, New York (2013). Michael's work has been recognized by the Pro Football Writers of America, the United States Basketball Writers Association, the Football Writers Association of America, the Associated Press Sports Editors and the Society of Professional Journalists, among others. In 2015, Michael received the USBWA's Rising Star Award for a reporter under the age of 30 who demonstrates journalistic excellence. Michael received a B.S. in Newspaper Journalism from Syracuse University ('13) and has a minor in Political Science. In his free time, Michael has coached soccer at the youth, high school and Division I collegiate levels. He helped guide the Central Connecticut State University women's program to a Northeast Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth during the 2020-21 season. |
